Heavy & Oversized Transport

Support for abnormal loads, heavy vehicles, industrial machinery, and special freight.

Construction equipment, industrial machinery and other heavy or oversized loads need more planning than a standard trailer. The vessel, the loading method and the truck legs to and from the ports all have to fit the load.

We review heavy and oversized shipments across our corridors and arrange the transport through licensed carriers and vessel operators. We don't own or operate trucks or vessels.

  • Oversized machinery
  • Lowboy trailers
  • Permit-required loads

Measure everything

Send the length, width and height of each piece, its weight, and how the weight sits: where the heavy end is, and where it can be lifted or secured. Include anything that sticks out, such as booms, buckets or attachments.

Accurate figures decide which options are open. A few inches of height or a few thousand pounds of weight can rule out a vessel or a route.

Barge, RoRo or specialized equipment

Self-propelled or towable machines can often travel RoRo. Loads that don't roll may go on specialized equipment such as flat racks, and very heavy pieces and building materials often move by barge. Which applies depends on the load and the route.

Getting to and from the port

Moving an oversize or overweight load by road needs permits from each state it crosses, and sometimes escort vehicles. The trucking carrier arranges these. Allow time for permits when you plan the dates.

At the destination, check that the delivery site can take the load: access roads, ground conditions and a way to unload it.

Heavy loads often have fewer sailing options than standard cargo, because only some vessels can carry them. Start the request early, especially if the equipment has to be on site by a set date.

How a quote request works

  1. Step 1: Send the details

Origin and destination, what the cargo is, its dimensions and weight, and your sailing window.

  2. Step 2: We review the options

We check which ferry, RoRo or barge services and port pairs fit your cargo and dates.

  3. Step 3: You get a quote

The quote lists the sailing options and what each one includes.

  4. Step 4: We arrange the booking

We book the option you choose with the carrier and tell you which documents it needs.
